The birth of Chhattisgarh has some historical connotations attached to it.According to historical evidences, in the year 1960, Dr.KhubchandBaghel was first personality to voice his concern for the land of Chhattisgarh. However after the death of Dr.KhubchandBaghel, under the reign of Shankar GuhaNiyogi, on 31st December 2000, Raipur was considered to be the Capital of Chhattisgarh. From then onwards, the land of Chhattisgarh was born on a full-fledged note.It is the 10th largest state of West Bengal and population wise it ranks as the 17th most populated state amongst all other Indian states. The Royal family of “Kalchuri’ had 36 Durg (fort) from where quite significantly the name “Chhattisgarh” has been derived. Moreover one is sure to find the reference of in the epic of Mahabharata and Ramayana and as well in writings of Hiuentsang.
