Chhattisgarh : Bhilai



Bhilai is considered to be famous world-wide due to its famous Steel Factory. Tourist around the world visits this place throughout the year and thus get mesmerised at how this city is been developing with every passing day.  As per historical records, in the year 1955 2nd February, with the help of the Russian Government, this steel plant was built. Thus became the 2nd largest Indian steel plant. From then onwards, Bhilai started decking herself with all the ingredients that a planned city indeed need of. Now, Bhilai has been listed as one of the top three best planned cities in India.

How to Reach

Those who to want to visit this planned city; transport system would not be a great issue. The panoramic view of Bhilai can be enjoyed while travelling as well on any Mumbai bound train which goes via Nagpur, one can catch a quick view of the steel city which will be on the left hand side. But it is advisable to get down at the Durg Junction for many trains ply from this junction. Moreover many other modes of transportations are easily available. From the Durg Junction, taxis and autos can be availed to reach the city of Bhilai. And for those travelling by air, you need to get down at the Raipur airport, where innumerable taxis and cabs are available which you ferry you to Bhilai.

Bhilai Steel Plant- Visit

The Bhilai Steel Plant is not open to all, but those who are willing to pay a visit are supposed to write anapplication to the General Manager or to the PRO, seeking permission of visit. This application should be sent at least a week earlier of your visit.
