Jharkhand: Galudi

 

Galudi, the picture perfect city, is situated at a distance of 8 km from Ghatsila. Rest and relax in the slightly rugged arms of the nature. That is what you can look forward to have in this trip of Galudi, about 235 km away from the gripe and grime of Kolkata.
 
The beautiful city with Subarnarekha River and small hills, is hidden in the Shal, Mahua, Simul, and piyal. The road to the Galudih dam will take 10 minutes of your time if you start from the railway station. Watch the wilderness of the Subarnarekha River. The violent river is kept under control using 21 sluice gates.

Satgurum River, about 13 km from Galudih, is the other river worth a watch. The wild river is delimiting the Dalma hill all around by its eight streams. The Burudi Lake in Duarsini, situated at a distance of 14 km from the city, is a large stretch of water enclosed by rugged mountains and desiccated trunks of trees.

The Uranium mines and temple of the deity called Ranakini can also be visited. The idol of the Ranankini temple looks truly beautiful with its singular and unique appearance. It is just 24 km away from the small but beautiful city of Galudih.
The temple can be accessed by bus from Tatanagar. You can also hire an auto to Jadugorah temple from Uranium mines. Uranium mines has a nearby railway station.

Dhalbhumgarh is another settlement in the shades of a rich forest. Do not forget to watch the ruins of the palace of the Dhal king. The palace houses Nahabatkhana, Rashmancha and two temples. The kali idol, built by the rocks, is the chief attraction of the temple. The runway of Dhal Empire, hidden in the forest, is in ruins. Subarnarekha River is situated at a distance of 1 km from the Dhulbhumgarh railway station. According to local lore, gold dust can be found in the sands of Subarnarekha.

Another nice place, Gotasila hill is situated at a distance of 15 km from Dhalbhumgarh. Hotel Transit Inn is the only hotel available in Gotasila.

The narrow and rippling falls, Hirni, is coming down from a height of 2500 feet and meeting the River Karo. Hirni falls is situated at a distance of three and half km away from Hesdi which is located at an elevation 3060 feet. 

Tilak Samarsata express and Chakradharpur passengers are the trains which you can avail to come back to Kolkata.
PWD bungalow is one hotel where you can stay for a night in Hesdi.

Tebo pahar (hill), about 12 km from Hesdi, at an altitude of 3000 feet, is a hill station surrounded by dark forest. Tribal communities like Oraon, Munda, and Ho are the residents of the place. You should not miss out the wildlife of the Tebo wildlife sanctuary.

FIB, a nice hotel in the forest area, is a paradise amidst the natural grandeur.

Trekking lovers can enjoy a trek to Rogod, about 15 km away from tebo. The smaller hillocks can also be climbed without any equipment.

Rogod had a forest bungalow earlier but now the bungalow is destroyed.

You can also visit Narasinghagarh. The placid destination has a marvelous palace and a lot of temples of multiple deities are there around the palace.

Kakrajhor and Hullum are the other coveted nearby destinations. Kakrajhor is just 22 km away from Ghatsila.
Kakrajhor forest bungalow is situated at a distance of 7 km from Hullum. However, these places are politically disturbed now.

How to reach: Take the Ispat, Steel or Kurla Express from Howrah railway station, Kolkata to Ghatsila. Trekkers can trek to Galudih.
