Jharkhand: Rajrappa and Chinnamasta

Rajrappa falls, on the NH-33, situated at a distance of 43 km from Hazaribag, can be accessed by only one bus at 6 am from Hazaribag. Walking down through the rippling streams to the Rajrappa temple is an enticing experience. Get back to Ranchi or Hazaribag on the same day after watching the falls and temple. The Rajrappa temple is built atop the diminutive tila, at the confluence of the rivers Bhairab and Damodar. This is one of the 51 pithas of a sect of the Hindu community. The temple is very old but definitely has that essence of enchantment and charm. Watch the impressiveness of the Kali deity in the temple. The temple has the headless deity of the goddess Chinnamasta (A form of Kali) which stands on the body of Kamdev and Rati on the lotus bed. The ferociousness is prominent on the face of the deity.

Apart from the Ashtamatrika, and Dakhina Kali temple, there are many more temples present in this pilgrimage spot. The natural backdrop of the place is also fascinating.

Surajkunda hot spring, on NH-2, about 72 km from Hazaribag, is another place of interest. If you are interested then you can see the crocodile park on the way to Ranchi. This crocodile park project has got its shape in the village of the backward community. Watching the park amidst the natural settings will be a different experience altogether.
