Meghalaya: Dawki

 

Umtigarh, on the way to Cherrapunje, about 22 km from Shillong, is a small town. Take left from Umtigarg and hit Dawki, located at a distance of 58 km from Umtigarh. On the border of India and Bangladesh, Dawki, a petite town of Meghalaya, is a picturesque city which offers a wonderful view of Khasi pahar or Khasi hills.

Divine Kali temple of Dawki, situated amidst the ravishing natural settings, attracts a large number of tourists. Tamabil, at the border of India and Bangladesh, is located at a distance of one and half km from Dawki. Enjoy the scenic beauty around the fascinating Ungoat River.

Buses are going to Dauki in every hour from Shillong through NH-40.

Sindai cave, situated at a distance of 10 km from Dawki, also deserves a visit. The village Maolinang, located on the way to the cave, is well known as the cleanest village of the world. The living route bridge, built on the River Thailong, is a special enticement of Maolinang village.
