Orissa : Gopalpur

Gopalpur on Sea:

Bay of Bengal is touching the virgin golden beach of Gopalpur. A large number of foreigners used to congregate here for the attractive long-drawn-out beach of Gopalpur. Retired Anglo Indian employees of south-eastern railways, living in the quarters, had taken a huge responsibility to provide shades and shelter to the wandering tourists. Assortments of coconut and fern plants welcome tourists swaying their heads. You can find much needed solace and comfort in the serene Gopalpur. Gopalpur is also famous for its salubrious climate. Even though the sea is not as violent as that of Puri but definitely it is not very peaceful either.

Enthralling sunrise and attention-grabbing sunset in the natural environs fascinate tourists. The back water of Gopalpur will provide an opportunity of yachting in the wonderful natural locale. Take a walk to Gopal temple and light house. Youthful legs can carry you to the top of the light house crossing 154 stairways. Ruins of the Kalinga dynasty can also be seen in Gopalpur. Gopalpur used to be one of the well known sea ports where from ships to different places of the world used to start their journey.

Hire a car or an auto to visit Ram temple, Dhabaleshwar Shiva temple, Aryapalli sea beach, Taratarini temple and cashew nuts factory.
