Nangal, Ropar and Bhakra

Nangal, situated at an altitude of 1100 feet, the place for the nature lovers, is not more than 103 km away from Chandigarh. One of the best places around Nangal is Bhakra which is actually located in the geographical terrain of Himachal Pradesh. Buses are regularly plying to Bhakra from Nangal. Bhakra is a sought after tourists’ destination for a splendid dam which has been installed on the eye-soothing Shatadru River, about 13 km away from Nangal.

The initiative taken to produce water power using water stream of the astounding Shatadru River is praiseworthy. This fastidious water stream marks its way through the moving turbines to Gangal and Kotla. The water stream of the Shatadru River forcefully has been taken through the pebbly Shivalik hills to its destination.

Another important spot of Bhakra is the fertilizer factory. The entire city has been formed in a planned way around this popular spots of Bhakra.

How to reach Nangal and Bhakra: A number of buses travel to Nangal from Chandigarh once every 2 ½ hours. Avail a bus or hire a car to Bhakra. Trains are traveling to Nangal regularly from Delhi, Una and Ambala. But, it is advisable to go to Nangal by bus. Buses ply to Nangal from Chandigarh, Delhi, Ambala, Patiala, Jalandhar, Pathankot, Dharamshala and Manali.

Where to stay at Nangal: Kadamba Tourist Complex, Maya Nangal Hostel, VIP Rest House, Guest House and Nazar Hotel.

Ropar: Ropar is an interesting and inspiring tourists’ spot, located right in between Chandigarh and Anandpur. This is a diminutive dirty city.

One of the most important attractions of Ropar is ASI Museum. It’s rich in its collection. Substances excavated during 1929- 1955, are maintained in this museum and are definitely upholding the cultures and traditions of that finicky period.

The emperor Ranjit Singh and Lord William Bentinck were met here during 1831 and it is written in golden letters in the Indian history.

Spend some time in Nangal after completing the trip of Bhakra and Ropar and if you are interested, then it won’t be a bad idea to move to Dharamsala or Manali by bus from Nangal.

Don’t miss the opportunity to witness one of the grand allurements of this area. The Govind Sagar Lake is an imposing place which should be accessed for sure. The Lake is located at a high altitude. The surrounding sights of Shivalik hills can be best viewed standing on the protracted banks of the astounding Lake, about 50 km away from Ropar. Touch the Beas HEP, located on the western banks of this appealing Lake, on your way.

How to reach Ropar: Ropar can be accessed by bus both from Chandigarh and Nangal. All the nearby places of Ropar can be accessed by bus. Hiring a car is not a bad idea for a comfortable and hassle-free trip though.

Where to stay at Ropar: If you are really interested to stay at Ropar for some time, then you can book a room for you in Pinkcassia, Siraj Motel or in Hotel Surazpal. Gurdwara is there as well. It is positioned at a distance of 15 km away from Ropar.
