Tamil Nadu: Hogenakkal Waterfall in Hogenakkalor

 

Hogenakkalor or the smoking rock, located at an altitude of 250 meters, is a city which is
situated on the lap of the mesmerizing and stunning nature. The feral water streams of the
Hogenakkal waterfall, one of the prime enticements of the town, hit the ground freely from
an elevation of 20 meters. The streams of the Kaveri River, the sustenance of the valley,
are coming down from the Malegiri hills in the form of untamed waterfall. Visit Hogenakkal
by bus from Salem and take a glimpse at these astonishing vistas of Hagenakal. The façade
and beauty of the nature will enthrall you if you visit the place during July- August. The
water streams have a medicinal power.


The soothing and mild weather of Hogekanal attracts tourists even from the remote places.
Ride on the unique and singular boat which is the forte of the city and take the pleasure of
the pleasing atmosphere around.


How to reach: Avail a bus from Salem (114 km) or Bangalore (80 km) to visit Hogenakal. Better still, drive down.

Dindigul: Situated at a height of 300 meters, on NH-45, at a distance of 95 km off
Tiruchirapally, the petite city, Dindigul, has established its traditions in between the Palani
hill in the west and Sirumalai hill in the east.


Visiting the light pink colored city will be a different but interesting experience. Buy some
juicy fruits which are sold in the market of Didigul.


The fort of the Nayak kings, at an altitude of 90 meters, is not only an enticement of Didigul
but the attached memories will fascinate and engross the souls of the tourists as well. The
absorbing sights of the adjoining places of the fort will keep the tourists busy.


The very old, Our Lady of Dolours Church, was built 250 year ago but still looks eminent.
Apart from this fastidious church, a lot of devout churches are there to amuse Christian
devotees.


How to reach: Take a train from Chennai Egmore and get down at Didigul. Didigul is also
connected to Madurai, Coimbatore, Mahisur and many other cities of India. Driving down is also a great option.
It is only 60 kms from
Madurai.
